We’ll probably see Trump not go in line with where other countries are headed in terms of ‘handing over sovereignty’ on health matters to the WHO. In practice, when countries make ‘legal’ pledges to the WHO, they can simply not do it because there is no penalty for takebacksies. So they don’t have to let the WHO determine what they will do in a pandemic. However, the point of countries making agreements with the WHO is to pretend that the WHO made them do it.
This move suggests that we’re less likely to see vaccination craziness the next time a pandemic like SARS3 or whatever comes around.
